WHO
 ARE THESE GUYS?

Blair, Dev, Ned, and Tom are the co-founders of Boulder ElectroRide.

Blair - The son of a professor of physics and astronomy, Blair Keller grew up discussing mass, acceleration, electromagnetism, and why it's easier to coast downhill. Watching Cosmos and Star Trek on television, he dreamed of a future powered by science. Since then, he has designed and built robots, furniture, several types of houses (traditional, passive solar, strawbale, and earthsips), and many devices of questionable purpose (which others have called sculpture). Blair’s two-year-old friend has learned a few new words recently. Among them: "tube", "helmet", and "mocycle" (his pronunciation). He often asks Blair about his "mocycles". Blair appreciates the interest, and intends to have a sustainable and fun option ready for both he and his sister when they are ready to wear the helmet. Blair has a BS in Art, Film and TV production from Florida State University.

Dev - Dev Bhatia is an entrepreneur (and sometime writer) who has grown three different start-ups to multi-million dollar revenues. He has raised more than $30 million in venture funding. Among his previous successes are Screaming Media, where he wrote the business plan and helped raise seed capital for a company which later went public. He was a VP at Yoyodyne, a web marketing pioneer, which was bought by Yahoo! Later, he was founder and CEO of HotSocket, a web marketing services agency. Dev is currently Chief Revenue Officer of mShopper. Dev is also a part-time writer, whose work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. Dev is a Yale graduate and has an MBA from Columbia.

Ned - Ned Riedel has a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado and a BS in mechanical engineering from the San Diego State University. Ned's expertise is in machine design and mechanical systems design. Among other projects, Ned designed and built a major combustion experimental apparatus that flew on NASA’s space shuttle STS-107. Besides his academic background, Ned brings to Boulder ElectroRide over a decade of experience as a professional bike mechanic and two decades of experience using non traditional means of commuter transportation (bike, bus, skateboard). He is a Colorado Registered Professional Engineer, lic#38151.

Tom - Tom McKinnon is an environmentalist, an educator, and an entrepreneur. He has a PhD in chemical engineering from MIT in 1989 and a BS in chemical engineering from Cornell University in 1979. When not working to revolutionize transportation with low carbon mobility, he is a full professor of Chemical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He is also developing an early stage startup to create gasoline from cellulosic materials (ironically, Boulder ElectroRide will work him out of a job when we no longer need gasoline!). In his spare time he is an environmental activist working to put a carbon fee on the Colorado ballot in 2008. Tom has a regular show on KGNU Boulder/Denver community radio, as the radio personality “Professor Tom”. The radio program showcases technical and policy solutions to global warming.
